Nikki Johnson- Owner
Ms.Nikki has been in the dance industry for over 30 years. Some of her students have gone on to professional dance careers, including her daughters, Shea Mallet and Tara Carpenter. Her extensive dance training and background include a scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet, membership to Asbury Dance Company and the Houston Symphony Ballet. She is proud to have the opportunity to continue to inspire young dancers.
Tara Carpenter- Director
Ms. Tara grew up in a studio setting and began training at the age of 3 under the instruction of her mother, Nikki Johnson. She has extensive training from the University of Houston as well as many internationally recognized artists such as Gus Giordano, Patty Obey and many others. She recently received the honor of being named Dance Teacher of the Year 2011 by Kids Artistic Revue Dance Competition. Her creative style and innovative choreography has received many top honors at competitions both locally, nationally and internationally. Tara's choreography has been represented at several prestigious events such as the Tanzommer Dance Festival in Innsbruck, Austria, Disneyworld, and at Dance Houston in Houston, TX. She travels across the United States as a professional competition judge. With her wide range from ballet, jazz, contemporary and lyrical her mission is to express her love of dance to young performers and to educate dancers in a variety of styles. She is very excited to start another successful competition season!
Shea Mallet- Director
Ms.Shea is a cum laude graduate from the University of Houston with a degree in Psychology. She has been a dance instructor since 1990 and began teaching at The Dance Factory in 1993. She began taking dance lessons at the age of 4 under the instruction of her mother, Nikki Johnson. She was a dance officer on her high school drill team. Ms.Shea has trained in the dance department of the University of Houston and Stephen F. Austin State University. She continues to enjoy sharing her love of dance with her students.
Lee Harper- Acro Instructor
Ms. Lee grew up and trained in gymnastics and dance in Michigan City, Indiana. She Graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Education. She taught and coached high school gymnastics teams for several years leading them to state competitions. She has been the acrobatics instructor for The Dance Factory for the past 14 years.
Sarah Katherine Barrera- Instructor
Sarah has been training in dance for 21 years with focus in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. She trained and competed with The Dance Factory in Houston since age 6. During this time she traveled around Texas and as far as Disney World to compete and perform. While attending Cy Fair High School, Sarah served as a Lieutenant her junior year and Colonel her senior year on the Cy Fair Brigade Drill Team. Upon graduation, she moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M University and was a member of the Texas Aggie Dance Team for 4 years where she had the honor of serving as Co-Captain her junior year and Capatain her senior year. She graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2013 with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. Most recently, she was a Professional Cheerleader for the Houston Texans Cheerleaders for 2 years. Through numerous dance conventions, over 120 College Basketball games and 21 NFL games, she has honed her skills in performance and choreography in a wide variety of dance styles. Sarah is very excited to return to The Dance Factory this Fall to share her love of dance and competition with her biggest passion, the next generation.
Taryn Goltzman- Instructor
Miss.Taryn began dancing at the age of three. She has won many awards at dance competitions with one being Best Hip Hop Dancer of the Year. While attending Langham Creek High School, she had the honor of being a Sr. Lieutenant of the Bailadora Drill Team. She was a part of the National Championship team which won their title at Disneyland in Orlando, Florida. She has also won several awards as a soloist. She attended Texas State University where she continued to choreograph solos, duets, and trios for the Strutter's Dance Team until 2012. Not only has she received awards for her many performances but she has won respective choreography awards year after year. With such an intense passion for dance, teaching at The Dance Factory gives her the opportunity to share her knowledge and love of the sport with those who want to learn and progress as dancers.
Susie Plummer- Instructor
Ms. Susie began dancing when she was three. She served as a line member and Social Officer on the Cypress Springs Drill Team. After high school Susie attended Texas State University where she graduated with a degree in Dance Education. During her college career she danced with the Orchesis Modern Dance Company based on the works of Erik Hawkins. Ms. Susie has a passion for dance and believes dance is a great way to express yourself and build a healthy body. She now lives in Cypress with her husband Chris and our Great Dane General Patton. She is very excited to a part of The Dance Factory this Fall.
Alexandra Cisneros- Instructor
Alex has been dancing with The Dance Factory since she was five years old. She's trained in all areas focusing in ballet, jazz, and hip hop. While attending Langham Creek High School she was a member of the prestigious Bailadora Dance Team, winning State, and National awards with the team. Alex has been choreographing since the age of 13, at 15, she was a top five finalist at the Champion Dance Contest for her self choreographed solo. Alex continues to choreograph dances for herself and others. She attends many dance conventions learning from distinguished choreographers and teachers to further enhance her dance abilities and creativity. She is always thrilled to continue teaching and sharing her passion of dance to the students of The Dance Factory.
Margo Tolbert- Choreographer
Ms. Margo started dancing at the age of 2 at Zoe Ann's School of Dance in Houston. She studied ballet, tap, jazz and pointe, and she performed in many recitals, competitions, and dance festivals. Ms. Margo earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston-Downtown, and she studied all styles of dance in college. Ms. Margo is state certified to teach dance and physical education. Ms. Margo began her dance teaching career in 2000, and she has been the Dance a la Carte Director at The Dance Factory since 2004. She teaches ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop, and her performance company groups have won numerous awards, including "Top Primary Studio" in 2007 and 2010.
Meghan Gilgour- Choreographer
Meghan started dance at the age of four. She was a member of Dance Factory’s competition group for many years. She has won several regional and national awards, including special judges awards for performances and most recently national champion duet in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While attending high school, Meghan was a part of the national champion Langham Creek High School Bailadora Drill Team where she also won a regional title for her solo. She is very excited to share her love and passion for dance with young, aspiring dancers.
Talia Alyssa Dudley- Choreographer
Talia is a former Langham Creek High School graduate and has been training in dance for 21 years with emphasis in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. She trained and competed with The Dance Factory in Houston since age 5. During this time she traveled with other Dance Factory company members to Austria, Germany, and Italy to perform at the Tanzsommer dance gala, as well as to NYC, Las Vegas, and more to compete and perform. While attending high school at Langham Creek, Talia served as a Lieutenant her junior year and a Senior Lieutenant her senior year on the national champion Bailadoras drill team and officer line. Upon graduation, she moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) and was a 4 year member of the Texas Aggie Dance Team, where she served as a Co-Captain her junior year and Captain her senior year. She graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. In summer 2012, she obtained her certification for secondary education in dance and PE. She is currently a dance teacher and assistant drill team director for the Cypress Ridge Dazzlers. She still does free-lance choreography for soloists, drill teams, and studios all over Texas.
